What it takes to get ready to travel.......

It must have been about six to eight months ago that my sister Martha and her husband Dave invited us to go on a trip to Alaska with them.  We traveled with them twice before, once out west and once to the mid-west.  We had a great time together and decided to do it again.

We decided to do a week on land and a week on a cruise.  Martha has a great travel agent who worked out every detail with us.  And I do mean detail.  My gosh I never knew there is so much involved in taking a trip like this.  Hotels, airlines, cruise lines, car rentals, excursions, what clothes to take, personal items, etc, etc, etc....

And of course, I could not leave home without washing windows inside and out, cleaning the refrigerator, washing and changing linens, getting the yard cut and the garden in tip top shape, and do the ironing.  Terry said I've ironed more this week than in the past ten years!  Sadly, that is true.

We think we are about ready.  The bags are packed and ready to be weighed. The last bit of laundry is spinning.  Travel clothes are hanging on the doorknobs.  Toiletry bags are waiting for the last minute.  And all the cameras and binoculars are safely in the carry-on bag.  Our dog, Ginger, knows something is up, but she'll be excited to spend her vacation next door with her friends.

So, we leave from Atlanta tomorrow, 6/9/2013, at 5 p.m.  We fly to Seattle and then to Anchorage getting there at twilight time.  I just know we'll probably be whipped by the time we get there and to the hotel.
